- Cracks in the Tank
One of the signs of a cracked tank is water on the floor. There’s a very simple way for homeowners to check for a crack. Put dye in the tank and wait. It will discolor the crack as it seeps through, and the dyed water will be seen on the floor. This means a new tank is needed. If the dye ends up in the toilet bowl it also indicates a leak usually in the seal inside the tank. This can cause the toilet to use more water than it should.
- Cracks in the Bowl
If there is odorous water around the base of the toilet, but the toilet seems to be functioning normally, it could be a sign of a crack in the bowl. - Mineral Deposits
